Canal Forge outside building

Canal Forge is a traditional blacksmith's forge in Devizes, Wiltshire, located by the side of the Kennet & Avon canal.

John Girvan, the blacksmith can produce everything from specialized hot forged work to general fabrications. All work is made to order, and his ornamental work, including gates, railings, grates, and weathervanes goes to customers across the country.

John will light up the forge for some traditional smithing hot forge scrolling. See examples of intricate ornamental work, including the famous 'rams-head' poker.

A fascinating experience for groups, small parties, and school parties daytime or evening by arrangement.
